| August 21 st was a Big Weekend for the Museum. The day began with a visition by the Sierra Chapter of the Fresno Model A Club . They toured the museum and spoke with docents. At 11 AM the "Old Timers" group , making their annual visit to Camp Edison , stopped in for tours of the Museum, the steam donkey in operation, and both the Hydroelectric plant and the Caboose. For this grop many of the old time photos were familiar .See Features for photos. The steam donkey demonstration continued throughout the day for all the visitors. In the evening a fundraiser for the Caboose rebuilding project was held at the Shaver Community Center put on by VEST members and was attended by over 140 people . Major Brooks Wilson showed slides of recent changes and later gave an update on progress and future plans.Members of his work crew attending the dinner were honored .A silent and live auction raised additional funds for the project. At Last! CSHS Website Updated!
Hurray for Jamie Glenn, who volunteered to do a makeover for the CSHS Web site, www.sierrahistorical.org, and bring its pages up to date. The new site was launched on November 1st. Jamie’s special interest in bringing history of the central Sierra to the public runs in the family. His grandfather, Myron Glenn, authored Sierra Nevada Interlude while employed on the Big Creek Project in the early 1900’s.

Trails & Tales of Yosemite & the Central Sierra, a Guide for Hikers and History Buffs; by Sharon Giacomazzi; Bored Feet Press; 2004. “It is a rare manuscript that weaves history, travel, environmental concerns and the voice of a caring heart into a tapestry to be read in the comfort of a favorite chair or by the light of a Sierra campfire. Such are the narratives penned by Sharon. Through these pages we find a portrait of how the Central Sierra region came to be, its personalities, growing pains, accessibility, and its need for stewardship.” – Caetlin O’Riordan, Editor, Sierra Heritage magazine 1991-2000. Sharon Giacomazzi grew up on a large ranch in the foothills below Kings Canyon National Park. Her articles have appeared in the Yosemite Highway Herald newspaper and Sierra Heritage and California Explorer magazines.
