Partnership in Education Program (PEP) 8th grade Science Days at the Museum
October 26, 2014 11:36 am Leave your thoughts On October 21st 40, 8th grade students from Big Creek and Pine Ridge schools came to the museum . The first 2 hours were spent using microscopes, I-Pads and cell phones searching for organisms found in local pond water. Students worked in teams of three and each team found photographed printed copies of their discoveries. The rest of the morning and afternoon was spent in the woods learning about forestry practices including fire, herbicides, and mastication. The overarching question they will be investigating over the next three visits to the museum is what are the most effective strategies to use to protect, preserve and nurture our forests. A unique educational experience having the students collaborate , investigate and record what they have learned during their field experience.
