The Museum Project
A Status Report After many months of intense planning with architect Lew & Patnaude, Inc., construction manager Mauldin-Dorfmeier, Inc., and exhibit designer Delphi Productions, Inc., CSHS has guided completion of the First Phase building. The Museum will encompass several phases of design and construction.
Phase 1a, The facility is completed and will function as a stand-alone museum until Phase 2 is completed. Located in this facility are the main offices of the Society , the gift shop, a work shop area where parts to the Caboose Project are being stored and worked on , and several exhibit areas . In the parking lot is an island on which a working Steam Donkey ” is exhibited. A new exhibit on “mountain Medicine in the Sierras” has been set up recently.
Phase 1b includes construction of the amphitheater, and will be included in the work done in ’09. A working hydroelectric plant has been planned by Carver Meade , with the working drawings presently at the County Plan offices for review.
